Bournemouth is one of the finest university towns on England’s south coast. Its beauty and numerous facilities have helped to make it an important centre of tourism, education and business. Harper and Queen’s described us as “the next coolest place on the planet”.
Bournemouth has now three times been voted England's best holiday resort. Its extensive facilities are ideal for both the holiday-maker and the many thousands of university and college students who live here. It is also a town of parks and flowers, and winner of the European "Entente Florale". In 2006, we won the gold cup at the Chelsea Flower Show. BEET also has a floral reputation, being a regular winner of the annual Bournemouth in Bloom competition.
The city hosts numerous events during the year, including powerboat races, vintage car rallies, international tennis championships and windsurfing competitions. During the summer, there are weekly firework displays from the pier, musical events and the unique Flowers by Candlelight, when the people of Bournemouth gather to light 15,000 candles in the Central Gardens.
Bournemouth has become very popular within the business world. Several large companies have moved their offices into the town. We are also a major UK conference centre.
For those of you who enjoy shopping, Bournemouth also boasts a vast and brilliant selection of both high street and designer shops, hairdressers and jewellers.

As it is home of one of the world's greatest universities, Cambridge has a lively student culture. Every day while the university is in session there are concerts, plays, meetings and lectures that are open to the public.
There are six theatres in the city, two concert halls, several pop-music venues and a number of nightclubs. Of the fifteen cinema screens, three show foreign and minority-interest films. Many of the colleges have first-rate chapel choirs, who sing evensong every day, and perform public concerts. The city has a wealth of bookshops, a fine museum and a number of art galleries, one of the best of which is Kettle's Yard.
Many of the college and university buildings are architectural masterpieces, both ancient and modern. Brighton and Hove form a single region. While Brighton is the livelier of the two, Hove provides a relaxed and quiet environment. Today the city of Brighton and Hove is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK and is just as fashionable a place as it ever was.The city is home to vibrant street life and café culture.
Brighton is unique because it has not one, but two piers – although only the ruins of the West Pier remain. The West Pier was built between 1863 and 1866 by the Brighton West Pier Company and designed by the doyen of pier engineers, Eugenius Birch of Westminster. It was closed in 1975 due to storm damage and became the property of The National Trust.
Brighton has the perfect mixture of traditional English eateries, Indian restaurants and Chinese take-aways. In addition, there are a number of Cantonese, Thai and Italian restaurants as well as the usual fast food outlets. Brighton also appeals to the vegetarian and vegan eaters. Whether you like Indian or Greek, Mexican or Italian, vegetarian or seaside fish ‘n’ chips you’ll find it here, and fierce competition keeps prices affordable.

Cambridge is a small and friendly city, making it easy to travel around on foot, bus or bicycle. The city has a large student population, making it an ideal place to study English. Cambridge is world-famous for the excellence of its university and for its magnificent architecture.
Cambridge is steeped in an interesting and remarkable history that has shaped the way the city is today. Known for having produced some of the greatest minds, this city is an inspirational place to learn English.
The River Cam (or Granta as it was previously named) winds its way through an area of extensive marshland known as The Fens, yet people first established communities in the region over two thousand years ago. Iron Age tribes built the first settlement near to what is now Castle Hill, creating a convenient ‘bridge’ over the river. About a hundred years later, the Romans invaded and seized the settlement turning it into a town. They used it as a crossing point for the Via Devana to link other towns in the North with Colchester in the South.
After the Romans, the Saxons took hold of Cambridge and further extended the parameters of the town. The tower of St Benedict’s Church (or St Bene’t’s as it is known in Cambridge) dates from this period and is therefore the oldest surviving building in the city. It can be found just 2 minutes away from EC Cambridge.
You can't talk about Cambridge's history without mentioning its university. Academically, Cambridge is consistently ranked in the world's top 5 universities and has been a prestigious place to study since its formation in 1209 (it's the fourth oldest Western university in the world).

It is a university city that welcomes millions of tourists. There is an excellent tourist infrastructure with a lot to see and do when school is over and at the weekends. It is a busy and prosperous city which our students really like.
The city is full of wonderful restaurants where you can taste many different types of food - Chinese, Italian, Spanish, French, Thai and Indian to name a few! Swanage, the capital of the Isle of Purbeck, approximately 2.5 hours from London is a popular seaside resort on the south coast of England, with long inviting expanses of sandy beaches with clear unpolluted water and breathtaking coastal scenery. The town provides a warm welcome to all visitors and retains an atmosphere of safety and tranquillity. Due to its geographical position, Swanage enjoys a very mild climate and often heads the British Sunshine League.

This unique stretch of coastline has joined the ranks of the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon as one of the wonders of the natural world. The coast is famous for its fossil discoveries, its unparalleled range of beautiful sandy beaches and its many historic towns and villages. Harrow House Swanage occupies an elevated position in the centre of the town, enjoying splendid views of the surrounding Purbeck Hills, the sea and the Isle of Wight. The sandy beaches and the town’s attractions are within 10 minutes walking distance.

We are a medium-sized, family-run school situated in the heart of historic and beautiful Canterbury. Canterbury has good rail and road links with London, Dover and the Channel Tunnel as well as easy access from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports.
The school is in a lovely, old building approximately 700-800 years old and only two minutes from the town centre and main cathedral.
There are eight classrooms on three floors. We also have a computer room with free internet access, a ping pong room, a Tudor-style beamed lounge room and a medieval, walled garden for exclusive student use. Our social programme includes evenings at the school and regular excursions to cities like London and Cambridge and local castles.
The town centre offers restaurants, cafes, university theatres, cinemas, museums, churches, antiques, old buildings, great shopping (old and new), local art shows plus plenty of English history. All our teachers are fully qualified and many of them have been with us for many years. You may begin a course on any Monday and we have a variety of course types to suit different needs. The school runs general, intensive, examination IELTs/Cambridge, business English and one- to-one courses.
We also take closed school groups from all over the world. Intensive Courses A+ and A (30 or 21 hours) run throughout the year with classes morning and afternoon Monday to Friday (except Wednesday afternoons for course A). General Course B is for mornings only (15 hours), course C is a full-time course preparing for the Cambridge University Examination; courses begin in January, March and September.
The summer adult vacation course (course E) is an organised programme of social and sporting activities combined with lessons in the morning. We also offer English and Golf. Most our host families are within walking distance.

The ancient city of Canterbury is one of the most historic centres in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Cathedral is famous throughout the world as in 1170 Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered there and since that time the Cathedral has attracted thousands of pilgrims, as told in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
Canterbury also has museums, churches, parks and a visitor attraction that lets you see what life was like in the days of Chaucer.
Canterbury has good public transport links to the nearby countryside and sea as well as to other towns and cities.
The city is a centre of learning. It is a university town with two universities: the University of Kent and Christ Church College. There is a big foreign language community which makes it a lively and cosmopolitan city. St. Peter's School is in the centre of the city in a conservation area. We are just two minutes' walk from the cathedral and the main shopping area which is rich in cafes, shops, restaurants and local history.
The city is historic and popular and famous for its sites and universities. Yet Canterbury's attractions are within walking distance of each other and the school and this includes most our host families. It is quite rare to need public transport or a car.
The street the school is located in, despite being so near the town centre, is pretty and quiet and is in a Conservation Area to preserve its beauty. A very old English church made of flint faces us and our garden at the back is available for student relaxation.
Many of our students either go to the school cafe at the breaks or can quickly visit the nearby coffee bars for refreshments.

Canterbury is located in Kent, a county which is known as ‘The Garden of England’. Although it is surrounded by beautiful countryside, it is also right beside many popular seaside resorts, which are great when you discover that Canterbury gets some of the best weather in the UK.
Canterbury has a historic city centre - the world-famous cathedral is part of a World Heritage Site. As well as the cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's church, Canterbury also boasts two castles, six museums and attractions that let you step back in time to the Middle Ages.

It’s fun to learn English. But learn English in London and you get one of the world’s most exciting cities thrown in at no extra cost!
One-to-one courses:
Unlike some schools, we give you lots of attention. Our highly trained teachers spend quality time with every student. But that’s not all we do. We help book a place for you to live, help you prepare for exams and even give great career advice. (Nice, aren’t we?)
High standards in teaching English:
You’ve travelled a long way to be with us. The least we can do is provide you with the best teachers, a carefully planned syllabus, extensive self-study materials and multimedia facilities. So, that’s exactly what we do. High quality English courses are what we are known for.
So much for so little:
Don’t panic. You haven’t misunderstood our rates. We really are that reasonable. We offer British Council Accredited courses at the lowest rates in London.
Who can you expect to meet?
Like London itself, our school is an exciting melting-pot. We’ve made many friends - from over 80 different countries! Agewise, most people are between 18 and 45. So whoever you are and wherever you’re from, we guarantee you’ll feel at home.
Putting you first:
We think we’re the best school in London. But we’re not the only ones. Our students agree. We regularly ask them how we’re doing. ‘Brilliantly’ is the answer. And if anyone comes up with an idea to help things run even more smoothly, we do it. Immediately.
We have been going and growing for 10 years now and have taught more than 14,000 students English.
All our staff have learnt and speak many different languages including, Spanish, Japanese, Portugese, French, Russian to name a few. So we know what it's like to learn a language. All our teachers are native speakers from from a range of regions and countries from north to south and east to west
Students love our teachers because they are funny, they are English language experts, they care about their students and they love teaching English. All our teachers have a recognised qualification in teaching English or the necessary experience. Many of them have higher diploma qualification. Many of our students work in London. They typically find jobs in administration, restaurants, looking after children or even operating taxi rickshaws.
Our residences are a great place to start off when you arrive in London. You have a place to stay, you immediately meet other students and you can find out everything about learning English and Living in London

All Visa National students must apply for entry clearance before travelling to the UK.
If you wish to apply for a Student Visa for the first time, or want to extend an existing visa, we’re happy to provide information and assistance.

The London School of English, founded in 1912, specialises in courses for mature, motivated adults and has two high-quality centres; both near the centre of London but away from the noise and crowds.
In Holland Park we are in one of London's best residential areas, 20 minutes from Oxford Circus and near famous Notting Hill. This is a dedicated business and professional centre, with courses for Executives, Young Executives, Lawyers, Young Lawyers and Individual Tuition. We also offer specialised English for groups.
In Stamford Brook we are between Hammersmith and Chiswick, 20 minutes from Victoria. This centre offers General English, Cambridge examination courses, IELTS and TOEFL. The average age on the General Course is about 29; so older, more motivated students can be sure they will be working with others who are equally concerned to make the best possible use of their time.
Both centres offer lunches and are very fully equipped, with free high-speed access to the internet and email. Holland Park offers a full Business Centre. We have a social programme and a full range of accommodation. Private home accommodation offers Wi-fi and can include a private bathroom - and much of it is within walking distance of the school.

The list of things to do in and around the city is endless and whichever location you choose to study at, you can get in to the centre very easily and quickly by public transport. Both of our schools are in excellent locations – close to the centre of London, but just far enough away from the busy centre to give both sites a relaxed feel.

Transfer: We offer transfer service to and from all London Airports.
At arrival incl. meeting at the gate: £85
Departure: £65
We can also arrange transfers from other arrival points, including Eurostar train terminals.
Flights: It is easy to fly to london because of its many airports where flight from all over the world.
You can also take the train from France or by ferry from various countries.
What happens on the first day of school: On arrival, each course participant is given a folder with information about the school and about London. We spend a great deal of time advising individuals about how and where they can pursue their own interests (sport, music etc) and have a full booking service for theatres, musicals, football matches etc.
Activities: Because many of our course participants are older and quite independent we do not offer social events every day, but we have an active and varied programme of leisure activities – on average three or four events each week. These usually include pub tours, restaurant evenings, museum and gallery visits, sporting activities and different social evenings in and out of the school.
Some events are charged for, others are free. Unlike many other schools, almost all our events are accompanied by our own staff, although trips out of London are organised for us by another company as this gives much more choice and flexibility.
How to get to the school the first day: This information, including maps and directions, will be e-mailed to you when you have booked your accommodation.
Visa information: Do you need a visa?
There are 3 types of visa status, as follows:
1. EU/EEA/Switzerland
People from these countries can come and go as they please and do not need a visa to study with us.
2. Visa nationals (VN)
These are people who need a visa to enter the country for any reason, and are required to get it before they leave home (this is called ‘pre-entry clearance’).
3. Non-visa nationals (NVN)
These people require a visa, but have lighter regulation than visa nationals. Most visas do not require pre-entry clearance, for example, so a NVN can get their visa on arrival. The most important exception is a General Student Visa, for which pre-entry clearance is always required.
For a list of the countries that fall into the above categories and for an overview of the visa system, please visit our website at:
www.londonschool.com/Travel_Visas.cfm
For the very latest up-to-date information, you should always contact the British Embassy in your country.
What is included?: All course materials are included. Also, access to the internet, wifi, photocopiers, printers, etc. is all included.

You may take buses 119, 312 or 466 these take you to the school from East Croydon station.
Visa information: We provide acceptance letters and other relevant documents to help our students with visa applications in their country.
Immigration/Visa:
Students coming from non EU countries have to apply for a Visa.
These students either have to get a visa at the point of entry to the UK(airport or border) or they have to apply for the visa in their country.
For Students who need visas, the Immigration authorities will want to know if they are genuine students and whether they have genuine interest and commitment to the course.
They require some information from the student in order to decide whether they are a genuine student. They usually expect you to have some knowledge and preparation for the future course (information about course, school and location) as well as that; they want to see that you have a good intention to follow the course.
They usually want to know where you are going to study, where you going to live, if you have enough funds to sustain yourself in the UK, if you have paid the school fees in full, where the school is located etc.
It’s important that you show the authorities your intention to follow the course as well as showing them that you are a genuine student. For this reason you have to show the immigration authorities your Acceptance letter from the UK School of English, as well as the Accommodation arrangement letter (if arranged by the UK school of English) and proof of your finances. If they are not satisfied by something they may call the UK school of English. What is included?: Free internet, Student discount card, Some activities
