The Spanish School with a Purpose. Where you can make a difference. We provide quality instruction to the students, and hope for the children of Guatemala.
Academia de Español PROBIGUA (Proyecto Bibliotecas Guatemala) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to two goals:
1) Providing the beginning, intermediate, and advanced student of Spanish with an intensive, total-immersion experience, featuring:
- Your choice of one-on-one instruction with a university trained teacher for 4 to 7 hours per day or group classes with three to four students.
- Trips to enable the use of language skills in settings most relevant to the student.
- Daily group activities (optional) with fellow students and teachers to practice skills in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
- The opportunity for room and board with a local family to learn about the culture and broaden language skills.
2) Helping the children of Guatemala by donating the school's profits to establish and maintain libraries in the many rural villages in which there is no access to books. This goal does not increase the cost to the student. Our fees are reasonable and competitive with other, for-profit schools.

Cobblestone streets, pastel colored facades, hundreds of years old colonial buildings and numerous ruins of cathedrals and palaces – there are plenty of reasons why Antigua has been declared a Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO in the year 1997.
Which once used to be a sleepy town with 25,000 inhabitants has become a center of total-immersion spanish language study. Today, the city unites international flair including guatemalan lifestyle. Cultural, culinarian and lots of shopping possibilities – Antigua offers everything which western tourists are used to. Numerous indegenous villages in the surroundings as well as coffee- and macadamien farms are easily reached in a day trip.
