Bray, now regarded as a suburb of Dublin, is located south of Dublin at the gateway to Wicklow, ‘The Garden of Ireland’.
You can enjoy all the splendour of Wicklow and yet you are only a 35-minute DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) ride away from Dublin city centre. Bray offers a wide range of shops, cinema and theatre venues, noted restaurants and pubs, with live music and entertainment regularly throughout the year. Bray is famous for its walks, with the promenade and Bray Head being favourites. Horse riding, golf and sea angling are available locally.
There is something for everybody in Bray. The town of Bray is named after the imposing rock hill, which gives the town its character. A walk up the hill offers an unique view over Dublin Bay. Bray’s natural beauty has made it an attractive holiday destination since the 19th century. Early holiday-makers from Britain and Dublin built splendid Victorian houses as summer homes like those typically seen on the seafront.

Dublin is a lively, modern, and cosmopolitan city with a population of approximately 1.3 million people. It is located on the east coast of Ireland, at the mouth of the River Liffey.
Some scholars suggest Dublin dates as far back as the first century BC, though the town was established proper in the 9th century under the Vikings. Dublin has many of the advantages of a larger city while retaining the charm and tradition of a smaller one. With increased
prosperity the city has been attracting more and more people from all over the world to live and work here, and today it boasts a cultural diversity to match the most cosmopolitan tastes. Over the years there has been an explosion in foreign cuisine, Dublin City
with European, Asian and South American restaurants now a common sight around the city.
Surrounded by mountains and located on the coast, visitors to Dublin are never too far away from a scenic view. As the transport hub of the country it also makes it the perfect base from which to explore the rest of our beautiful island. All this, together with its lively, bustling atmosphere, friendly people and famous night-life make Dublin one of the most popular and visited cities in Europe. Atlas Language School is located in Ranelagh, ten minutes from Dublin's city centre. Ranelagh is a friendly and relaxed part of Dublin, famous for its restaurants and bars and is the perfect environment to follow English Courses in Dublin.

What happens on the first day of school: On their first day all new students are greeted by a school representative and the Director of Studies. Each student completes a spoken and written placement test to determine the best class for him or her. Before they start class, students are also welcomed by the Welfare Officer and given an information pack containing an introduction to the school, helpful hints and tips on studying and living in Dublin and a map of the city. After class there is a guided tour of the city centre to help familiarise students with their new environment and settle them into life in their new city. This tour normally ends in a traditional Irish pub where students can have a glass of Ireland’s most famous drink, Guinness!
Activities: We believe that in order to get the most from their time in Ireland students should be exposed to English not just in the classroom but in a variety of environments and contexts. That’s why our social and cultural programme is so important to us and why we spend so
much time and energy making sure that it is as varied, vibrant and interesting as possible.
We have a dedicated social programme co-ordinator who organises activities, tours and visits throughout the year for our students. These activities are a scheduled part of almost all courses and normally occur after class in the afternoon and evening. We also organise day and weekend trips to scenic areas outside Dublin, such as Connemara, Clare and Galway.
Activities include:
- Art gallery and Museum Tours
- Visits to the cinema / theatre
- School parties
- Surfing, football and other sporting activities
- Festivals
Visa information: If you are an EU citizen you do not need a visa to enter Ireland. If you are from outside the EU, whether or not you require a visa will depend on which country you are from and how long you wish to stay in Ireland. Please contact the school or your local Irish embassy for further information.

Galway, the commercial and cultural capital of the West Coast of Ireland, is a charming university town of 70,000, located on Galway Bay and surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt countryside with Connemara and its hills and lakes to the west and the fascinating archaeological region of The Burren, Co. Clare, to the south. Galway’s history dates from the granting of its charter in 1484 by King Richard III of England.
The old quarter, nestled round the Spanish Arch and the remains of the medieval city walls, has always been a favourite with visitors. Its narrow streets are filled with shops, pubs, restaurants and bookshops.
Galway’s friendly informal atmosphere, clubs, live music scene, lively pub life and traditional Irish music attract visitors from all parts of the world, and its many festivals all enjoy an international reputation. One of the unique features of Galway Language Centre is its location in The Bridge Mills, an 18th century mill situated on the River Corrib in the centre of Galway. From the school windows there is a superb view of the river below with its colonies of swans and wild birds, and in the distance, Galway Bay and the hills of Co. Clare.

It is a lively and bustling city, with plenty to offer by way of shopping and entertainment. Dublin is proud of its many theatres and its strong dramatic tradition. Leading Irish playwrights include Goldsmith, Shaw, Synge, O'Casey and Beckett. Irish pubs are famous throughout the world and the Irish music scene is a very lively and exciting one.
Few capitals are so beautifully situated. Dublin Bay forms a sweeping crescent from the Hill of Howth in the north of the city to Killiney in the south. The Hills of Dublin and the neighbouring county of Wicklow are within easy reach of the city centre. There is no shortage of sporting or leisure facilities in Dublin and most parts of Ireland, including the renowned scenic areas of Galway, Cork, Kerry and Donegal, are easily accessible by train or bus from Dublin. Situated on the Atlantic West Coast, Galway city is the ideal location for students of English. It is a safe city with a population of 70,000 people and a further 20,000 students enrolled in its two universities.
Its status as a cultural capital and university city has given its citizens an easy manner and openness to visitors, which escapes many large industrial cities in the English-speaking world. The majority of its industries are based on modern technology, computers, telephone systems and medical equipment. It is an ancient city and had important trade links with Europe in the sixteenth century – Christopher Columbus is one of its first European tourists.
Our city is its people – warm, friendly, welcoming – a people with a sense of Ireland’s past and a sharp eye on Ireland’s future. We can share with you our clean environment, a thriving artistic and dramatic culture, traditional pubs with music to suit all tastes, top quality restaurants and a full calendar of festivals featuring the arts, poetry, music, horse-racing, oysters and show-jumping. The school is located 10 minutes walk from Galway city centre overlooking the Atlantic west coast of Ireland.
