In all the world Florence is considered to be the cradle of Renaissance and the Italian language. Dante Alighieri by writing the Divine Commedy in a language derived from Latin, allowed the educated Florentine dialect to be chosen from the Italian dialects and to be elevated to the common language for all of the Italian territory.
After Dante other important writers such as Boccaccio and Petrarca, using the Florentine dialect, reinforced this prevalence which was then affirmed during the course of the centuries and which is true even today.
The school is located in the heart of Florence, in the characteristic and bustling neighbourhood of Santa Croce with its many stores, artisans workshops and its proximity to the city's most important monuments and museums.
From the windows of the beautifully frescoed classrooms of the Venerosi Pesciolini Palace, in Via dei Rustici, you can enjoy the view of the Palazzo Vecchio from one side and Piazza Peruzzi on the other.

ALCE is a school that specialises in teaching the Italian language to overseas students. It was founded in 1999 with the simple goal of providing students with a comprehensive educational and cultural experience, within a friendly and encouraging environment.
Each year we welcome students from all over the world and our wide range of courses is designed to meet their every need. Our teaching is sophisticated and uses multimedia technology, but one thing has and never will change and that is our insistence on the same high standards and the same warm welcome we gave when we started.
We work constantly to guarantee this and to maintain the quality on which our reputation is founded. By studying Italian in Italy you will learn the language far more effectively and quickly than you could at home.
ALCE is also full member of IALC (International Association of Language Centres) the award winning group of indipendent top quality schools worldwide
You will also have the chance to experience Italian lifestyle, make new friends from around the world, and develop your understanding of our increasingly inter-cultural world. ALCE brings all of these experiences together in educational programmes that are proven, effective and stimulating.
We are, and will always be, a traditional institution where you will be treated as an individual, not as a number, and where teachers and staff respect your commitment to your education and take pride in your achievements. We look forward to welcoming you to Bologna and on behalf of all the teachers and staff, I would like to invite you to join us this year.

Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, is a city steeped in history and culture. Surrounded by green hills, the town conceals countless artistic and architectural treasures in the shade of its towers and porticoes.
There is a saying that the Bolognese do not realize how beautiful their city is. Actually, they are well aware of it! Bologna is the result of a magical and alchemic mixture of art and culture. It has 12 city museums, 1 national museum, 4 church museums, 4 private-owned museums, 16 University museums and an invaluable Jewish museum. But it is also a lively and cheerful place, brought alive by the thousands of university students who have been flocking to the Alma Mater Studiorum (the oldest University in the world) every year since 1088 AD, the year of establishment. ALCE is ideally located, on the main bus route and the Medieval historic centre is just 500 metres by foot.

Rome is undoubtedly one of the most important historic, artistic, and cultural cities in the world.
The city is called 'eternal' as it served a capital of kingdoms, republics and empires of the Western World.
It is also the physical and spiritual centre of the Roman Catholic Church and holds some of the word's greatest treasures.
A student will find themselves gazing upon works created by the World's masters such as Michelangelo and Bernini, awed by the magnificence of the Colloseum, and dazzled by the splendour of St. Peter's Basilica.
To list all of Rome's countless important treasures would be impossible, when one keeps in mind that the city contains works from its Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance past as well as its contributions to modern art and culture.
Through study in Rome, students also enjoy living in a major European city, with its countless bars, discos, pubs and cafes.
Evenings can be spent viewing a concert in one of the many churches that spot the city or take in a movie (in either English or Italian).
The summer months are teeming with art and music festivals (Estate Romana which is a series of open-air events including concerts, theatre, music, films, dancing), which are enjoyed in the delightful evening air! The possibilities are endless.
Rome's location in central Italy works well for students who want to explore other Italian cities. Day trips to Florence and Naples are easily enjoyed, for example. The Rome centre is housed in a stylish turn of the century building, at 1 Piazza Bologna. It is within easy reach of the city centre and all other areas, amply served by Underground Line B and many bus routes.

Some of the most important museums in the world, fascinating cultural events, art, music, history, fashion and of course a great cuisine. The city is situated one hour away from the Tyrrhaenean Sea and one and a half hour from the main winter resorts of the Apennine mountains.
As the cradle of the Renaissance and the Italian language, Florence is more than just a large open air museum. It is a city of many faces, from the lively quarters and picturesque markets, where you can still experience an atmosphere that has remained unchanged for centuries, to the many universities and the elegant streets lined by some of the most famous shops in the world.
Moreover, the city offers ideal linguistic conditions for those who study Italian: the language spoken in the streets, the squares, the cafes and the markets is free of any dialect and its syntax is often cited as an example of linguistic correctness. Therefore, it is the ideal place to practise the language in a culturally exceptional environment.
With EUROPASS you can discover all the beauties of Florence and explore the town’s daily and night life. Our varied recreational activities include guided field trips in town, cultural highlights and shopping, as well as musical and other performing arts events. Our school is located in the heart of Florence on the third floor of one of the most prestigious palaces of the city, Palazzo Galletti. Built 250 years ago, the palace is under the jurisdiction of the Belle Arti, an organization that protects Florence’s rich patrimony of historic buildings and works of art.

"Catania is Sicily's most vibrant city, the modern, forward-looking sister to traditional Palermo. Its stone buildings are dramatic against the blue skies, its piazzas and boulevards are wide and inviting and, come night time, the streets are full of students having fun at the zillion bars and clubs" - Lonely Planet Sicily Guide.

Hosted in an ancient baroque building just in front the city’s main square , “Piazza Duomo,” and the famous fish market, “A Piscaria,” our school is in the heart of Catania’s historical centre. Today, Trieste is a border town. The population is an ethnic mix of the neighbouring regions; The dominant local Venetian dialect of Trieste is called Triestine ("Triestin" - pronounced [triɛsˈtin], in Italian "Triestino"). This dialect and the official Italian language are spoken in the city centre, while Slovene is spoken in several of the immediate suburbs. The Venetian and the Slovene languages are considered autochthonous of the area. There are also small numbers of German and Hungarian speakers. Since 2005, the Italian language courses have been hosted in the former Closter of Santa Maria Maggiore, in the old town. Trieste is a charming town between mountain and sea, near the border with Slovenia. Trieste is visited every year by quality tourism and offers lots of attractions and cultural life. It is a great pleasure to sit on the terrace of a cafè, drinking a prosecco and talking Italian in front of the sea.

The Venetian Republic was a major maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and a staging area for the Crusades and the Battle of Lepanto, as well as a very important center of commerce (especially silk, grain and spice trade) and art in the 13th century up to the end of the 17th century.
Together with Padua, the city is included in the Padua-Venice Metropolitan Area (population 1,600,000). Venice has been known as the "La Dominante", "Serenissima", "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Bridges", and "The City of Light". Campo Santa Margherita is a nice square in the centre of Venice. It is in the “university area”, close to Ca’ Foscari University and Architettura University. It is ten minutes far from bus terminal (Piazzale Roma) and fifteen minutes walk from the train station. There are a lot of nice typical Venetian bars, a good take-away (Pizza al Volo), a supermarket, a small fish market, a bank (Cassa di risparmio di Venezia), a tiny and cheap Venetian trattoria, a wine store (very cheap), and the university cafeteria. Students can also find an internet point (special price for our students) five minuets walk from campo Santa Margherita.

Lingua Sì is located in the centre of Italy, in Orvieto, at about 1 hour from Rome and Florence.
We have a nice garden where our students can read a book or relax and have a chat with other students. Also, upon request, some of the lessons may be held outside in the garden.

Orvieto is located in central Italy, in the region of Umbria, also known as “the green heart of Italy”, near Tuscany and Latium.
George Dennis, a 19th century traveller and fan of Etruscan sites, wrote: “Who would try to describe what Turner made so familiar?” referring to that View of Orvieto painted by one of the most famous English artists. No matter which direction you reach Orvieto from, the view you enjoy is always amazing: a town lying on a tufaceous cliff.
Walking through Orvieto, you will encounter traces of three thousand years of history one layer on top of the other.
The historical centre is home to a number of churches - in particular, the famous Cathedral - from various eras, charming narrow alleys that enchant those who take the time to discover them. The Duomo (1290 – 1590), with its wonderful façade and the recently restored frescoes by Luca Signorelli and Fra Angelico in the Chapel of San Brizio , is undoubtedly the most famous and spectacular building in the town. The Institute is situated in Piazza Cahen, just 1 minute from the famous San Patrizio Well and from the Town's Park of the Fortezza Albornoz. Our seat is easily reachable, opposite the "Funicolare" that connects the town centre to the railway station (2 min. trip).

Centuries of History and Art have left this city with a unique heritage in the world. While Florence carefully maintains its Renaissance architecture and culture, it is not locked in time; the city pulses with life from scurrying students in the university quarter to the businessmen who whiz by on Vespas. The rich artistic heritage, the numerous cultural events, and beauty of the surroundings make Florence one of the world's most beautiful cities and a unique centre of attraction for visitors from all over the world.
Walking around the city you will find shops selling fashionable clothes, antiques and jewellery as well as typical Florentine handicrafts; you will meet ordinary people and talk to them in Italian language. Florence is by tradition the city where you can practise and learn Italian language to communicate with local people everyday. The school is centrally located, in a quiet street next to the main railway station.

Florence (or Firenze, Florentia and Fiorenza) is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany, and of the province of Florence. It is the most populated city in Tuscany with 364,779 people.
From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Florence lies on the Arno River and it is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and was long ruled by the Medici family. In fact, the city has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. An ex-monastery of the Benedictine Olivetani monks situated in the hills of Settingnano (a small village overlooking Florence). The area has always been considered an ideal location for repose and has been home to elegant villas and the hunting reserves of rich Florentine merchants. The entire monastic complex combines the charm of the old with the convenience of the new, offering an original synthesis of tradition and function. Even the walls of the structure itself seem to allude to the cultural and educational goals of this center for Italian language and culture.
