Welcome to our "Rainbow Nation", a diverse melting pot of cultures and colours, where Father Christmas carries a surfboard, snow is almost unheard of and people sing on their way to work. South Africa is a country of contrasts with wide open landscapes and bustling, cosmopolitan cities. Our dramatic past and hopeful future are not the only reasons why people come here.
The warm climate, natural beauty, great value for money and the friendly people attract millions of tourists every year. South Africa has a fascinating mix of culture, with African, Eastern and Western influences reflected in most areas of society. This can be clearly seen in the different forms of dance, music, song and food which comes from the various cultures.
Cape Studies is proud to be located in Cape Town - few cities in the world have a more spectacular setting than the historic Mother City, which lies cradled in the arms of the majestic Table Mountain.
Sir Francis Drake, who concluded his journey around the world in 1580, wrote the following about Cape Town in his journal: "This Cape is the most stately thing and the fairest cape we saw in the whole circumference of the earth." Because Green Point is situated between the city centre, the Waterfront and the beaches it is one of the most popular parts of Cape Town. This area has a variety of different facilities. For example, a large fitness centre, tennis and squash courts, a golf course, football fields close to the beach, the Green Point stadium where artists such as Michael Jackson, U2 and Whitney Houston have performed, shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and much more

Cape Town is a world class destination, which can easily compete with any big city destination in the world. It has been recently voted top African destination, even beating mass tourism oriented Egypt.
It's a place where old and new harmoniously converge - in history, architecture, cultural pursuits and the essence of its people.
Warmed by the African sun, the city is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge- Indian and Atlantic. Immense natural beauty, and the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban centre meld effortlessly here. Firmly positioned on the international map, Cape Town offers a myriad things to do and places to see, whatever your tastes, inclinations or budget. Hout Bay is located just 20 minutes outside of Cape Town. It is a popular tourist attraction among both local and international visitors. There is a variety of restaurants in the village as well as two hotels (the Hout Bay Manor and the Chapman's Peak Hotel), many bed and breakfasts and self-catering accommodation where visitors can stay. The harbour is a worthwhile visit, as there are spectacular views of the bay and boat rides to Duiker Island and around the Sentinel.
Chapman's Peak Drive is one of the world's most scenic mountain drives and has recently undergone renovations to ensure the safety of travellers using the route.
The East and West forts built by the Dutch in the 18th century .can also be visited, with the original cannons and barracks still standing on the slopes of Chapman's Peak. The East fort is the oldest operating gun battery in the world. The mountains surrounding Hout Bay also make for good hiking trails. In the same area is the bronze statue of a leopard looking out over the ocean.
The Red Bull Big Wave Africa surfing contest is held on the other side of the Sentinel mountain, at the famous Dungeons. Some of the biggest waves in the world are found here and these attract surfers from all over the world. The competition can only be held during May to August, when the waves reach heights of 15-20 ft.
The Hout Bay Yacht Club is situated in the working harbour and provides moorings for both recreational, fishing and sailing boats. Just 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. Nature beauty for free – seals, whales, birds and many more.
