Boston had been a thriving city long before the United States itself existed. Founded in the 17th century, Boston has been the center of attention in New England since the colonial period. Today's Boston continues to boast some of the best attractions to be found in the Northeastern US. As the "cradle of the Revolution," Boston is full of history like no other city in America. For over 350 years, some of the world's greatest patriots, writers, thinkers, athletes and artists have called Boston their home, leaving an indelible mark on this incredible city in the process.
A trip to Boston is necessarily a trip into American history. Boston was the center of the revolutionary movement in the 1770's, and the monuments to those glorious times still stand. Faneuil Hall (1742) was a meeting place for revolutionary leaders, and it now houses dozens of shops and restaurants. The Old State House (1713) was the site of the colonial government and is open for tours. Paul Revere's house is also open for tours, and the Old North Church (1723) and its famous lanterns are still in use. The site of the Boston Massacre where five colonists died in 1770 has been preserved. The First Public School was in Boston; some of its graduates include Sam Adams and Ben Franklin. The Granary Burying Ground in the middle of town has the graves of patriots John Hancock, Paul Revere and others. Even the Boston Tea Party is commemorated in a floating ship museum, not far from the floating museum aboard the USS Constitution, America's first great warship.
In addition to history, Boston boasts a wonderful cultural tradition. There are currently more than 23 major theatres, orchestras, and symphonies in Boston, and more small theatres numbering into the hundreds. The Old Corner Bookstore was a favorite meeting-place for Hawthorne, Longfellow, Emerson, Thoreau and other great American writers. The Museum of Fine Arts is the largest museum in New England, and is the centerpiece of a collection of art museums that are spread all across the city.
Kids will love Boston's history, and they will also love many of its other attractions. Boston Common, which once housed British troops, is now a beautiful park in the center of the city. The Franklin Park Zoo is nearby, with a Children's Zoo and other kid-friendly attractions. The Boston Science Museum feature over 400 hands-on exhibits. The New England Aquarium has more than 2000 sea creatures on display, including fish, whales, and penguins. Finally, the Boston Children's museum is dedicated to educating and entertaining kids at the same time.
Sports fans can attend professional basketball, hockey, and baseball games involving some of America's greatest teams. Football fans can enjoy professional games or college-level ball at many of Boston's dozens of colleges and universities.
Millions of visitors a year come to Boston for its history, and once they arrive they discover that there's even more to enjoy in this amazing city. Our school is located in a residential area with ample access to American host families as well as our own student apartments, all within walking distance. We offer excellent access to public transportation as well as a downtown area with a great variety of shops and restaurants.

The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps, The World’s Capital, or simply New York; there’s more to see and do here than you could ever fit into a lifetime.
Built around a natural harbour and called ‘New Amsterdam’ when it was a Dutch trading post, New York was renamed after the British wrestled control of the land in 1664.
New York City, in New York State, is made up of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and, of course, Manhattan. With over 8 million people living in an area of 304 square miles, the public transport has to be efficient and organised. Many New Yorkers, especially in Manhattan, don’t own cars and rely solely on the public transport system.

The surprisingly small city of San Francisco covers 48, hilly, square miles of a Californian peninsula. Although the city was founded by the Spanish as a mission back in 1776, it was the Gold Rush of 1848 that put SF on the map and led to a sudden growth in population. This expansion was momentarily tempered by the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire. Almost immediately after the quake planning and reconstruction plans were hatched to quickly rebuild the city. San Franciscop was quickly back on its feet, bigger and better than ever. Misfortune struck again in 1989 when another earthquake hit. This time though the losses were much less thanks to SF's stringent building codes.
Today around 800,000 people call the city area home, while the Metro Area has a population of 7.5 million. San Francisco is considered one of the most liberal cities in America. The locals are known for their tolerance and open-mindedness.
The city of San Francisco is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the city itself has a number of parks where you can relax with friends.
The South Beach area is a popular spot with cyclists, joggers and rollerbladers. The San Francisco Giants baseball team plays at AT&T Ballpark. If you are lucky, you can catch some of their games for free through the arches which look into the stadium.
If baseball is not your thing, then you might be interested in watching the city’s NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers, who play their home games at Candlestick Park which located in the southeaster corner of San Francisco. The entire 18th floor of 100 Montgomery Street in the heart of the City is the home of EC San Francisco. This incredible learning environment is just a short walk from Union Square, Market Street, the Ferry Building and waterfront.

Open Hearts International College’s mission is to provide the necessary tools to our students to be able to communicate effectively in English. We want to provide the best possible educational environment to our students while they experience studying in the United States.
Because of our commitment to excellence and service, the College and personnel are involved in local, national, and international programs to the extent that expertise and resources allow. However, the first priority in the allocation of institutional resources is to meet the needs of our on-campus students and of our programs.
We want for our students to leave feeling that everything has been done to assist them, not only with their English studies, but also with their cultural integration into their new surroundings.
Our school is located in the financial district of Miami "Brickell", with a beautiful ocean view and amazing amenities such as swimming pools, jacuzzi's, gym, restaurants, cafeterias, etc.
Our school offers Host Family and Campus Accommodation.
Open Hearts International College offers an array of activities to help students practice their English and interact with staff members. The city of Miami being a great tour destination allows for an innumerable series of activities that can vary from visits to museums to a tour of the sub-tropical jungles of the Everglades.
Activities are scheduled on a weekly basis and students have the opportunity to en-list and participate accordingly. Open Hearts International College strongly emphasizes the beauty and ethnicity of the city of Miami and encourages students to be part of the melting- pot culture that has come to define South Florida, today considered the gateway to America.
The curriculum at Open Hearts is meant to be open-ended and ongoing. To better respond to the individual needs and abilities of the students it offers 7 different levels. Each 12-week level is subdivided into 6 2-week blocks. Students may commence studies at the beginning of each two-week block. While the blocks are designed to be as self-contained and non-cumulative as possible, it is inevitable that the material will build on itself to some degree. It is therefore incumbent on our teachers to fill in the gaps in the student’s knowledge as necessary and to the extent that it is possible.
We look forward to welcoming your students!
